We are excited and privileged to have Erin Kloepping Interning with us this summer. Erin will be posting entries on our blog for the next several weeks. We hope that her "peek a week" into our lives and all that is going on here in Ecuador will help you to feel almost as though you were able to visit yourself!
Hi there! I am from the very small, rural town of Brodhead, Wisconsin. This fall I will be a junior at Winona State University in Winona, MN pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications – Leadership & Advocacy Option as well as a minor in Mass Communications and Training & Development. At school, I enjoy talking with my professors during office hours, exploring small towns along the Mississippi River with my friends, spending time in local coffee shops in attempt to feed my strong coffee addiction, and serving as a leader in my campus ministry, Chi Alpha.
I love all things media from photography to graphic design, videography to social media; which leads me to what I have been up to so far this summer!
Currently, I am serving as the summer Communications Intern for Compassion Connection (CC) and Encantadora under Steve and Sandi Youngren.
Although my focus thus far has primarily been on Encantadora (Sandi's wedding and jewelry line), I will also be working on projects for CC throughout the next few weeks. While I am here I will be posting CC blog articles, streamlining CC social media, and creating video communication from time to time.
I am super excited to help facilitate a short term missions team while I am here because the reason I am here in Ecuador today is all because I came to Ecuador in August of 2014 on a short term missions trip! On that trip, I truly grew in my relationship with Christ like never before, and I fell in love with this beautiful country and the wonderful people who call Ecuador home. Leaving Ecuador at the end of that twelve days was hard, but I had a peace in my heart that I would be back. In December of 2015, I returned to Ecuador with my best friend, McKenna. We mostly worked with Encantadora Wedding and just tried to serve Sandi in whatever way possible in the eight short days that we were here. While on that trip, I felt like the Lord was calling me back to Ecuador, but this time was different. This time I felt very strongly that the Lord was calling me to come back to Ecuador for a third time but stay for a more extended period of time. Long story short, I am here this time for two months, full-filling my communications internship for school! God is so good!
All in all, I am truly honored to be here serving in Ecuador for the summer. Throughout this internship, it is my goal to utilize and grow in my communication skills of photography, videography, social media, and graphic design, as well as grow in my ability to speak in and understand the Spanish language. I don’t know what God has planned for me post-graduation yet, but I hope that this internship will help me get a better idea of what life on the mission field looks like, especially here, in the country I love!
